| Posted: | | | | This is an excerpt of an Interview with George Lucas by a German Magazine: (I took the Liberty to translate it in English) WS-Vision: Will the Indiana Jones and Star Wars Movies soon make their debut in High Definition George Lucas: That will definitely happen. We will wait though, until Blu Ray has established itself more, because until now they just won the Format War. It will take a year or two until this format will have established itself.
That was it folks. So at least he is planning a release for the somewhat near-future. | | | Check out my Youtube channel under https://www.youtube.com/user/alittleolder |

Star Wars was not released until 2004...SIX years after the introduction of the DVD format, despite being among the top requested during that entire 6 year stretch. George will release them when HE is ready to, not one minute before. I am also certain that whenever the release occurs and I would not expect it for a minimum of two years, you can be practically guaranteed that it will take full advantage of the power of BD, which is only in its infancy in terms of exploring its capabilities.

| Posted: | | | | I have bought every release of Star Wars - I'm a total junkie - can't wait!!!!! What I would hope that he is going to do would be so mind blowing that maybe it will even take a couple of years ... I assume the process is very intensive, right? | | | Thanks for your support. Skip It think picture and soundwise they can already do it pretty perfect. He'll wait though till he can sell more units. If I were him I would take in account that the release of this movies would further the expansion of the medium immensely. He could release it now and then another special Edition in two years. | | | Check out my Youtube channel under https://www.youtube.com/user/alittleolder |

It's not like he's got some extra titles to experiment with. Consequently, he won't even bother until we routinely see Blu Ray titles pushing over a million units in sales. Gonna be a while. | | | Last edited: by mdnitoil |

In another thread I read that Blu Ray sales make up 1,2% of the DVD market in the UK. Which is a 500% increase to last year. I guess he won't bother with that and spend some money on a decent transfer until it's really a lot more established. Like he did say in the interview | | | Check out my Youtube channel under https://www.youtube.com/user/alittleolder |

Skip actually it was over seven years.. DVD was introduced, i believe, in the spring of 1997 and Star Wars made it to DVD in Sept 0f 2004 .. So we can we wait till 2013.. ??? Hope I can still see by then.. | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

| Posted: | | | | For all that waiting for the Star Wars DVDs, they had problems with the audio and video on some of the movies, showing a lack of care. |

Yeah but they should have a pretty pristine print of the restored versions. They only need to make a DTS HD Soundtrack (fox uses only DTS) and there we go. But if blu ray still hovers at 1,2% of total sales they won't bother | | | Check out my Youtube channel under https://www.youtube.com/user/alittleolder |

I don't think it's gonna be that long. I'd say 2010 or 11.. Then blu ray will have, hopefully, established itself. But, if you remember, the restored versions were first released on laserdisc, only on laserdisc, even though there was already DVD | | | Check out my Youtube channel under https://www.youtube.com/user/alittleolder |

Ahh the fourth quarter,, as I predicted ... Maybe I am dense, but can you explain why "at the airport..,, Next stop.. WallyWorld... " is a hint at a fourth-quarter release? Besides, unless it's the last week of September, which I'd let count, September is the last month of the third quarter...? | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan.
