| Posted: | | | | When contributing a profile that exists in the main database, we can select which fields to contribute.
This is not the case with new profiles. Why?
The request: I would like to select the fields to contribute for a new profile as well. The Title and ID fields are essential but the rest should be optional.
Reson: Save time for everyone. |

"Voting, Contributions and Forums: - Option to choose which fields to contribute on initial contribution." Very well, put me down for another huge +1. |

I don't understand, what do you mean that is not how you collect? When you get a new title that isn't in the db, you have to enter the UPC and Title to create the profile. Prior to adding anything else, simpy hit submit. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | When I get a new title most of the times is not in the DB but it is in my wishlist, cloned from another locality. I change the UPC and info from the actual cover, but cast/crew contributing is not for me... But I would like to contribute basic info and covers | | | Laura |

Then you should remove the data you don't want to contribute --> contribute --> add data back again. Or Change UPC and locality --> clear all fields you don't want to contribute --> add data you want to contribute --> contribute --> add rest of the data. Anyway, it would be much easier if one could choose the fields during the initial contribution. Therefore +1 for this request (again). |

I have never done this, as I create all my new profiles from scratch, so thanks for the explanation. I have no problem with the request, I was just a tad confused by the post I responded to. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. I often create, for my wishlist, new profiles for new movies when there is not yet any dvd release. For example, I just finished Prometheus, with all data specific to the movie, specially cast/crew, overview, running time, formats and some dvd data (UPC, audio tracks...) that are already available on some movie sites.
When buying my DVD (Blu-ray in this case), I'll just have to complete (or verify) disc data (as scans of covers, disc ID, features,...) but shall not change cast/crew data (that link with my database and will probably not when using Invelos rules), and not change the overview (with the usual spoilers and advertising we find on back covers).
With the request, I could contribute each data matching with Invelos rules, which I cannot do at present time. | | | Images from movies | | | Last edited: by surfeur51 |

| Posted: | | | | In addition to doing as Sanuye and surfeur51 each do, I will sometimes find that a movie is getting a release, and get the UPC info to set up a profile. There are occassions where I get free time at work, and I will sometimes use this time to build up the profile in one way or another. I don't like the "blank" DVD image, so if there's no cover art, I'll use the movie poster. I'll also do various other additions. What I can't do from work is contribute (not sure why I can't, it just never gets past whatever security is on the system), so contributing first then further building up the profile is not an option for me. | | | Adelaide Movie Buffs (info on special screenings, contests, bargains, etc. relevant to Adelaideans... and contests/bargains for other Aussies too!) |
