| Posted: | | | | As far as I can tell so the new version / fake BY system works great. Thanks a lot!
But still a question:
(ignoring headshots) Do I really have to seperate people before I copy the cast / crew into the profiler in case I re-do the whole collection anyway? At the beginning I sure would end up with a lot of false crosslinks but when I'm finished they all should be corrected, right? |

If you actually re-do your whole collection and chose to use fake BY you don't need to seperate people. It will happen in the process. I just couldn't dream of doing it myself for my 3,600 profiles (mostly TV shows with multiple episodes per disc). | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

I just could dream of doing it myself fpr my 3,600 profiles (mostly TV shows with multiple episodes per disc). 2931 profiles here. Also lots of TV shows, but customs like Games and CDs, too. But I already have cached 130.000 people so even movies with a gigantic crew like 2012 or Captain America are ready to paste pretty fast. Some TV shows still take surprisingly long, even if I already did them with the old version. For example 24 Season 1-6 were fast but 7 & 8 took forever. Might of course have been my connection but I don't think so. So, if I manage to do roughly 40 profiles a day I'm done around the end of the year. | | | Last edited: by Corma |

| Posted: | | | | Please excuse the double post, but I just had another idea I'd like to know what you think about it. As powerfull as CCE2 now became it seems to be only a small step to get rid of something that always annoyed me about the DVDP: Would it be possible and of interest to anybody else than me to add the option to append the crew (including deviders for direction, writing, production etc.) to the cast? This would make crosslinks really work |

Tell me about it. Some TV shows are fairly easy - like 24. Because the order on the disc is exactly the same as on IMDb. But try to profile the first season of Leverage or Firefly. Back then the airing order and thus the IMDb order were totally screwed up. So when you scan the data you first have to pick the episodes that are on that disc and then you most likely have to re-order them, too. Also, I have my own policy that if an actor plays two seperate people he gets two lines of credit. If he plays "Batman / Bruce Wayne" then naturally only one. But sometimes I can't remember or haven't even seen the episode yet to make that distinction. Then it's mostly guesswork based on the kind of show I'm just profiling, i.e. what is it more likely? | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

This would make crosslinks really work You mean copy the crew AS cast? To be honest, I'm not much of a crew person myself. I fill in only directing, writing and composing crew (usually 3-8 names at max) but even with them I can't actually remember when I clicked on one of them to find other work of that person. It's just not something I'm interested in. With very few exception (e.g. Kevin Smith, Tarantino) I don't watch movies because they were made by a certain director. Most of the time I don't even know who the director is. For the same reason I kill every studio entry in my local DB because that's a null information for me. A movie isn't good or bad because Paramount made it. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

This would make crosslinks really work Possible? - Should be. Interest? - At least not to me. Really working crosslinks? - Well, the problem in DVD-Profiler isn't, that we have two lists per movie, but that we have two databases for people in the background.

| Posted: | | | | Back to headshots: While you're flushing the dvd profiler folder now for each profile, could you change this to only flush when starting a new session? Or maybe only copy pictures, which hasn't been copied within the active session.
The problem (well maybe more an annoyance) with the actual behavior is, that I have to delete the same pictures for each profile more than once a day - especially when doing series. And with the first option I wouldn't have to move the pictures after each profile. I know there's an option to move them automatically, but then I wouldn't have the chance to delete the unwanted - unless I can choose the folder they should be moved to.

Hm, I'll get a window titled: "Warnung!" Inside of the windows it says: "Auf Grund der IMDb-ID nm0180000 dieses Darstellers, hat er ein leeres Fake-Geburtsjahr zugewiesen bekommen." Two things: 1. I would like to get the persons name. 2. I got this message in crew, so it shouldn't be "Darsteller". Maybe something like this: Warnung! Auf Grund der IMDb-ID nm0180000 hat Jill Cormack ein leeres Fake-Geburtsjahr zugewiesen bekommen.

| Posted: | | | | LOL, just read you and got it the first time myself right after. Are we gonna keep track of these? If so:
Marty Vites (nm0900000), crew, sound dep., only 10 movies but some rather well known ones
But it seems to be very rare so I don't think its much to worry about. Already finished 10% of my collection and it was the first time this happened. | | | Last edited: by Corma |

| Posted: | | | | Now I had something really scary happen: cast of Alone in the Dark: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0369226/ Matthew Walker (1942) becomes Matthew Walker (1982) if I copy the cast into the DVDP. Also tried Freestyle CCE but BY turns to 1982 there, too. Both Matthew Walkers are in my DB (and CCE2 cache) screenshot http://imageshack.us/a/img717/6814/clipboard01ea.jpg edit: tried other profiles with the 1942 guy. BY always turns to 1982. Also tried profiles with the one born 1982. It stays at 1982. edit2: I've got the Alone in the Dark Cast with an empty CCE2 cache. It copied fine with the 1942 BY staying at 1942. Then I've selected a cast at imdb with the 1982 guy (Hercules Season 4 Episode 20) adding him to the CCE2 cache. Now the 1942 BY turns to 1982 again. | | | Last edited: by Corma |

I'll look into it. But maybe not before this evening, I have to go to work soon. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | Here was the problem: Everytime when you had two people with the same name but different BYs while copying to the clipboard the program to the BY of the last guy in the list. This segment of code was originally written when you chose not to get BYs anymore but already had some in your cache file that he would use that BY while creating the clipbaord data. There was a comparison gone wrong. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online
