| Posted: | | | | What I wonder:
10.000 DVDs over the last 10 years makes an average of a 1000 DVDs/year, which makes more than 3 DVDs a day.
And assumed, that you did not start in 1997 with 3 DVDs a day you must now buy 4 or 5 DVDs a day to keep that average.
2 Questions: Are you buying every DVD there is? I find it hard to believe, that there are 10.000 movies out there that a single person can like.
When are you watching these, even with only 90 minutes per movie (assumed, you buy only movies, not TV shows also) you need four and a half hour to watch it - or are you collecting for collectings sake? | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | Don't have 10,000 yet, but do have over 6000 (any way you count them). Most of the older (and there I mean by production date) are classics of all ilks that I have seen in the past and like. Some are additional releases of the same movies but "Director's Cuts", Collector's Editions", "Extended Editions", "Unrated", etc. Collecting movies is more akin to an addiction than a hobby. For those of use with larger collections I can almost guarantee that is the case. Just today I purchased somewhere around 40 new additions to my collection. That is not a typical purchase but I do generally purchase somewhere between 10 and 20 each week. I guess that would average somewhere between 3 and 4 a day if you look at it that way. There have even been a few occasions where I purchased over a 100 in a single purchase run because of good sales at my favorite online DVD watering hole. If you like, feel free to take a gander at my collection.
By the way in my case there are 7 stand alone DVD players in my house. One in each of the bedrooms, one in my office, one in the living room, and one in the den (family room for those who aren't familiar with the term). I have generally had replace at least one or more each year more because of the aging of some of the units, but the one in my office is HD so that was more for me. | | | NightHawke Wherever I go, there I am!? |

| Posted: | | | | I'm fairly confident I won't ever have 10000 DVDs. HD DVD Blu Ray Whatever comes next then yes maybe one day but I only buy what I can watch. I had a spurt as I filled up the back catalogue but now it's only about 10-20 a month. | | | Last edited: by Graveworm |

| Posted: | | | | I started my collection in the summer of 2000. I currently own 932 DVD's adding up to 1076 movie titles. As some others, I count my Boxsets as a single DVD's. My 2 latest open orders are in the mail as of today. I've succeeded in watching about half. I probably need 26 hour-days, so I could watch some more. | | | View my collection at http://www.chriskepolis.be/home/dvd.htm

| Posted: | | | | Quoting veedub: Quote: I don't have many DVD's on shelves per se. Mine are all ripped onto my HTPC. So I have 104 ripped and stored, and 30 left to rip. I hate the physical media cluttering up my living room. I'm sure my collection is peanuts compared to alot of you guys
edit: spelling I wish I could do this but with 1550 titles that would be roughly 7.2tb |

| Posted: | | | | 978 here...I'll be at the 1000 mark within the next couple of months, according to my "to-buy" list. | | | "I am Andrew Ryan and I am here to ask you a question: Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his own brow?
No, says the man in Washington. It belongs to the poor. No, says the man in the Vatican. It belongs to God. No, says the man in Moscow. It belongs to everyone.
I rejected those answers. Instead, I chose something different. I chose the impossible. I chose… Rapture." |
