There are "ways" to get non-dubbed films or pre-colorized ones, but a terrible remake will tarnish the reputation of a great original for a long, long time. | | | Erik

Remakes have obviously been around for many decades, and some (even recent) are good...but there has been a plethora of true stinkers (and plenty of 'em) from Hollywood in the last several years. | | | Corey |

Colorizing is the absolute worst offense you can commit against a film. I don't particularly like dubbing, but that is a necessity if a wider audience is expected to be reached. This was the option I was looking for as well!!! Taking a classic Black and White film and adding color was/is blasphemy!!! | | | My Collection!!! |

Surely the same argument used to justify dubbing can be/is applied to colorizing. | | | Adelaide Movie Buffs (info on special screenings, contests, bargains, etc. relevant to Adelaideans... and contests/bargains for other Aussies too!) |

| Posted: | | | | My vote goes to remake. Not that I don't like some of them (The Thing, Invasion of the body snatcher (76), Dawn of the dead) but the majority are really bad. I've hesitated with the dubbing, but when you came from a little small town in Quebec you don't really had a choice. Since I've begin to buy DVD I can see that the original language is much better and that's the only version that I listen. This is a good way to practice my not so good second language. |

| Posted: | | | | I voted for dubbed - we had a lot of those here in SA a few years ago and it generally IMHO ruined what could have been good movies/TV. I prefer to have the original language with subtitles as that way you at least get all the correct inflections for attitude etc.
Remakes have been in some cases absolutely awful but there have been quite a few really good ones. Hollywood seems to be in remake mode at present, so there is a plethora of them. Why can Hollywood not come up with goo ideas? A few years ago we had a plethora of body switching movies - all made around the same time, basically a variation on a theme. Then there was the Baby boom type movie, then the Meteor coming to earth and the pending disaster revolving around that. Now it is remakes and sequels. Enough already!!! It is time to come up with something new! | | | <---------Mithrandir, Laverne and Shirley Caroline |

| Posted: | | | | The most disgusting thing about the current batch of remakes is that some of the material is being remade before the original is even released! | | | Adelaide Movie Buffs (info on special screenings, contests, bargains, etc. relevant to Adelaideans... and contests/bargains for other Aussies too!) |

| Posted: | | | | There is only one good thing of 'colorized' movies. They usually have to find the best print and really clean it up. So if I find one I watch it by turning down the color on my TV so low it shows up as B&W, and I can enjoy the clean print. Though thank G-d that the colorized trend seems to have died.
