The database is located by default in your "my documents" folder. The path is My Documents\DVD Profiler\Databases\Default. If you had renamed your database, there will be a folder in the Databases directory with that name. Normally, profiler keeps a registry entry of the last opened database, so it knows which one to open next time you start it. I would recommend making a copy of the entire DVD Profiler directory, before trying to restore or open any of the databases that you find there.

If there are more than one folder under Databases, try the menu File/Open Database and browse to see if any of them have your collection.

As a last resort, your online collection is not empty, so you will be able to download at least that much of your collection.

If you do find or rebuild your db, remember to perform a full backup frequently, but especially before doing anything so radical as a version upgrade.

Good luck, and I hope this helped.

Hi there,

thanks for your answers.

The online databse can be my last hope, because i´m to fast with some actions i´d done myself.

How can i backup my collection from the online-db? Is there a function in the program? I´m not on my PC, so i can´t check it now.

Thx for your answers again.

In DVD Profiler, go to Online / DVD Profiler Online.

Next, you'll be asked to enter your username and password.

Next, make sure you tick "Download" first!! Then click "Next" twice.

As a result, your online collection should be downloaded. Probably the cover images will not be downloaded with the data. To get the cover images:
go to Online / Refresh all images.

After completing this step, you should be fine.

Good luck!

Thank you a lot.

Don´t know this way. The Pictures are no prob, i download it afterwards again.

Main thing is to have my almost complete database back.

You're welcome!

Getting the cover scans afterwards is very simple - if you do it the way I described you'll get them all at once.

Greetings from "the neighbours"!

Yes, I've forgotten my password, but I know my login.

I managed to find a copy of my database file from 2.x, but I can't import it until I've got a key for 3.x (due to the 50 title limit).

I've just added 50 new titles to 3.x, and I've got about another 60 to go... it's been ages since I've updated my profile

I sent a request yesterday using the "account setup" contact page... waiting on a reply now.

I've still had no response to my request - is there an email address to use instead of the web form?

I've submitted another support request - looks like I might need to rebuild my old PC to get my previous key back.

Support requests only work for known registered users. Try the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of the page.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Problem solved - I've just spent 4 hours getting my old PC up & running (needed to move the drive across to a working PC, plus a $10 IDE-SATA adapter) so I could run DVD Profiler 2.x & write down my old key.

Now I've got my 3.x registration, I can finally update my collection!
