I have fond memories of when I first discovered DVD Profiler of debates with him over contribution rules, etc. I know he was a mainstay on these forums for some time but in browsing recent posts I haven't seen him around. Anyone have any ideas?
"I am Andrew Ryan and I am here to ask you a question:
Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his own brow?

No, says the man in Washington. It belongs to the poor.
No, says the man in the Vatican. It belongs to God.
No, says the man in Moscow. It belongs to everyone.

I rejected those answers. Instead, I chose something
different. I chose the impossible. I chose…
Rapture."

I don't think anyone really knows.
But he hasn't even visited this site in years, being that he was so into dvds and the program it must be something preventing him from even visiting the site.

The best we can hope for is that he's alive and just moved on.

It is nice to see that through the filter of time, what people remember most is positive. Guess that is human nature, and a good thing (not talking world events here, just personal relationships).

Maybe he decided to finally watch all his DVDs. If he spends 8 hours per day to watch all the DVDs in his collection (which is still online) it would only take him about 7 years...

Before he left, he insulted numerous people all around the forums and was responsible for a huge loss of motivated users around here (I for myself was absent for more than six years). We are still suffering from this loss.

He even had to change his username to Winston Smith

I am friends on Facebook with him...but haven't seen him on there lately either. I know he was going through some stuff back then. Not sure now though.

BS - it was the lack of management resolving disputes on what was allowed to be contributed.

That too, obviously, and that problem unfortunately persists to this day. But Skip's antics certainly weren't helping - neither the passage of time, nor looking back through rose-tinted glasses changes that. Unfortunate but true: we're better off without him.

Well, I don't know. I was one of those who disagreed most with Skip's ideas, and he often insulted me. But I think he just believed he was right and he fought for his ideas, but was not a bad guy. I remember that after a hot discussion, he proposed me to sign as a friend to discuss "normally". In fact, we have here really bad guys who hate other people without giving any reason, and those are much worse than Skip...

You're right, that was it. Skipnet50. That's sad to hear.

I too have memories of him being verbally abusive at times, but I certainly have good memories of him as well. I believe the last poster above me said it best in that he wasn't a bad guy, just truly believed he was correct in his ways.

A shame to hear.

Love him or hate him - he certainly did his share of clarifying certain interpretations of the rules.

Personally I never had any issues with him, but rather constructive discussions, and on more than one occasion a difference in opinions. But he always treated me with respect, as I treated him.

Hope to see him back some day.
