| Posted: | | | | Hi! :D Can I create a collection category just for "box-sets" (for example all a favorite directors films could be in it) all the sets neatly in the box-set category AND the individual movies still be listed in the "All" or "Owned" tabs??? I know tags are possible, but that is a search function, which makes the collection aspect hidden in that way unless you bring up the tag... Thanks so much for the help! Maybe I should just speak for myself. When I see "I tried this and this ... can't figure it out," I will much more quickly spend my time to help a person. | | | Thanks for your support. I think it can be done, but you should be the one to do the experiment. Just open a new database and try it for one box set. You seem to be a really cool, smart guy. I predict that soon, you will be answering a lot more questions than you ask! We need that. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. | Posted: | | | | Actually, it is quite easy to do it. The most time-consuming is probably to move the profiles into your new 'box-sets' collection.
How? Open the 'Edit Custom Collection Categories' window: * either via the menu (Collection -> Other... -> Edit Collection Categories) * or right-click on a collection tab header (select Other... _> Edit etc).
In that window, add a collection (Add button) and name it ('box-sets' or whatever else you'd want), be sure to click on the 'Include contents in owned collection' tick box.
All profiles are shown in the built-in 'All' collection. Anything you move to your new collection will thus show in 'All' and thanks to the tick box also in 'Owned'. | | | Eric

| Posted: | | | | Thanks Mediadogg and Eommen! I was trying to add "ordered" items into my "box collection" category. i had been previously using the way you suggested via the manual, i just didn't realize it needs to be in the "owned" before you can add it to a collections tab... Thanks so much! Jeff | | | "The two most important days in your life are.............when you are born....and when you find out why." -Mark Twain- |

| Posted: | | | | That's actually a pretty neat idea to move the "empty" box set shells to their own category so I don't have to look at them when I browse my movies. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |

If you do it the way eommen describes you would still have the boxset parents in Owned, just a "copy" of them (well, a reference, rather), in their own category. If you dont set "include in owned", you could move the box set into the new category. That would move the children as well. Then you could move just the children back to Owned. That would in effect disconnect the children from the parent. Not sure how useful that would be. | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar |
